Intro to Woven Darning for Knitwear Repair | Sept 27
ABOUT
Set up in the inspirationally curated vintage shop Pascal & Co, come and learn the basics of woven darning so you can revive your damaged knitwear and turn wear and tear into little moments of magic!
You’ll learn the how, when and where it is best to use woven darning, discover various tools and materials you can use and where to source them, and lots of tips and tricks along the way. I’ll also show you how simple variations in colour and pattern can create fun visible repairs as well as subtle, almost invisible repairs.
Each workshop is limited to 5 participants which means I can give each of you more time and attention to help you feel confident in your mending skills by the time you leave.
This workshop is suitable for beginners, but those with some sewing experience are also welcome.
PROVIDED
All materials and refreshments will be provided.
WHAT TO BRING (all optional)
Any tools and materials if you’d prefer to practice with your own.
A knitted garment or accessory of your own to work on and/or get advice for repairing it. NOTE: If there is any possibility your item has been damaged by moths please treat it before bringing it along - pop it in a plastic bag and then into your freezer for 2 weeks.
WHEN
September Sunday 27th | 10:00am - 12:30pm OR 2:00pm - 4:30pm
See other event listings for other dates and times.
WHERE
Pascal & Co, 20 Albert Place, Edinburgh, EH7 5HN.
The shop will not be open to the public during the workshops.
ACCESSIBILITY
The shop unfortunately cannot be accessed by a wheelchair but we do have space to store a foldable chair. Also the bathroom is only accessible up a few small steps.
I wear a face mask to teach workshops so if you need to lip read this might not work for you. I will have spare masks available if anyone would like one.
For any other accessibility related enquiries please contact me at overstorymending@pm.me and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
